Carbine Classes

Course Description:  The Tactical Carbine / Rifle essentials course develops the students basic ability to properly zero, shoot and maintain the AR/AK / Mini-14 platform Carbine / Rifle. The course is intended for shooters of all levels, whether a new AR-15 owner or a seasoned shooter, the skills taught create the basis of threat focused shooting and defense using the carbine platform. Don’t let the name fool you, this is a tough course and all level shooters will benefit from the course content.

  • Firearm Safety
  • Personal gear and load-out
  • AR-15 Parts, operation and maintenance
  • Carbine / Rifle accessories / load-out
  • Loading and Unloading
  • Carbine / rifle shooting fundamentals
  • Proper shooting position
    • Standing
    • Kneeling
    • Prone
  • Carbine / rifle zero CONFIRMATION ONLY – MUST HAVE ZEROED RIFLE PRIOR TO CLASS
  • Foundation Drills
  • Malfunction Drills – Clearing common malfunctions
  • Movement – Forward – Lateral
  • Shooting from Barricade

Other Information:

  • Course assumes a modern sporting rifle / carbine (AR/AK platform)
  • 350 rounds (or more) required for the course.
  • Appropriate dress – we train as we fight, cold weather gear is a must in winter months.
  • At least 3 magazines (if using low capacity, 4 or more).
  • Appropriate caliber ‘snap caps’ (available at our gear store) for malfunction drills.
  • Belt magazine carriers / chest rig / Plate carrier (please call IN ADVANCE if you need to be provided gear (additional charge if not purchased)

Introduction to Precision Rifle @ Kenaz Tactical Group, Inc

Course Description:  The Introduction to Precision Rifle course is perfect for new and veteran shooters, hunters and students interested in developing the skill to shoot long range weapons for sport, competition or hunting. The course is heavy on fundamentals, pure precision, understanding your equipment and applying fundamentals out to 200 yards with the goal of shooting a 1 minute group, zero, and building solid fundamentals to enable shooters to move on to our level 1 class and succeed.

  • Basics of scope use

  • Bolt action rifle HIGHLY recommended – Gas guns (AR10) are not recommended for this course

Course Description:  The Defensive Pistol 1 course is an intermediate pistol shooting course that builds on the introduction to defensive pistol course. Students will learn defensive shooting techniques that will likely be required in an actual self defense situation. While maintaining shooting fundamentals, students will be challenged with several shooting drills, injected malfunctions and movement techniques.
You will not only learn the ‘how’ of defensive shooting, but the theory and the ‘why’ behind the skill.

This is an intermediate level course, beginning students should attend one of our KTG200 Intro to Defensive Shooting courses.

The Defensive Pistol 1 course covers the following:

  • Firearm Safety Rules review
  • Safe Handling of Firearms review
  • Proper presentation from holster / concealment
  • Defensive shooting vs Target shooting
  • Shooting Fundamentals review
  • Sighted and Unsighted shooting techniques
  • Stoppage Drills
  • Reloading Drills
  •  Speed vs precision drills
  •  Controlling rate of fire under stress
  •  Multiple target and threat identification
  •  Movement techniques
  •  Alternate positions – Kneeling
  •  Shooting from barricade / cover

Additional Information:

  • Students should bring at least 350 rounds of COMMERCIAL ammunition
  • Students should bring at least 2, preferably 3 or more magazines
  • Students should bring at least 5 ‘snap caps’ in the caliber of their firearm (limited stock for sale on the day of class if needed)
  • Students should supply their own firearm due to the nature of the course.
